Bowburn Taekwondo
Official Web Page

Bowburn Taekwondo was founded on 7th July 1997 by Mr. Jim Wright 2nd Dan and Mr. Peter Siberry 2nd Dan. The club also has 3 other black belts, Jonathan Siberry & David Siberry both 2nd Dans and John Wright 1st Dan. The club is based at Bowburn  Community Centre and our training times are Monday 6.30pm - 8.30 pm, Wednesday 6.30pm - 8.30 pm. We teach both traditional and sport Taekwondo.

Bowburn is situated in the North East of England near historic DURHAM CITY. Our first years have been very successful. We teach men, women and also children over 6 years old. We run a disciplined but friendly club and parents are welcome to stay and watch their children train.

Both Jim and Peter have trained in Taekwondo for many years before finally opening their own club. They were previously taught at another  Koryo Club based in Durham. After successfully passing their Dan grading they were awarded their Black Belts by Master Kim Yong Ho 9th Dan. Jim went on to pass his second Dan in front of master Kim Yong Ho 9th Dan in April 1997.

On 25th April 1999 Peter, Jonathan, David successfully passed their 2nd Dan grading with John being promoted to 1st Dan. The grading was held  in Darlington in front of Master Tom Stammer 5th Dan and Mr. Harry Wake 4th Dan.

"Bowburn kup students have shown their skills at several gradings in front of a panel of black belts, headed by Master Ian Leafe 5th Dan. Four times out of the last 6 gradings, students from Bowburn have achieved the award for "BEST OF GRADE" and many have been double promoted."
